Dutch say Unlocked Bike not enticement to steal

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - The Dutch Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of a bicycle thief who stole a decoy bike planted by police. Lawyers for the convicted thief - a repeat offender who was sentenced to 22 days in jail - had argued that leaving the bike unlocked amounted to entrapment. But the five-judge court has rejected that, saying the man wasn't personally targeted. His name has not been released. Police arrested him in Deventer in March 2006 after he took a bike they left near a train station that was being plagued by thefts.

Tuesday's court ruling said placing an unlocked decoy bike didn't make the suspect do anything he had not intended doing beforehand.

So, in this culture of victimhood, we see people who actually believe that it is entrapment to leave an unlocked bike for someone to steal... and it took several levels of lower courts that were not able to conclude that the argument was complete nonsense.

It might be very naive of a person to leave their bike unlocked, but this was hardly an "invitation" to steal any more than a woman dressed in an unchaste manner is "asking" to be raped.

What a shame it is that culture is so much geared to saying "It is not my fault" that this kind of claim can go all the way to a Supreme Court hearing to be rejected.

Everyone's A Little Bit Racist? Liberals Think So.

One of the fallacies America's election season is that if Barack Obama is paying an electoral price for his skin tone, it must be because of racists.

On the contrary, the evidence is that Obama is facing what scholars have dubbed "racism without racists."

Liberals seem to be unable to accept the idea that anyone could somehow not be in love with Barack "The Liberal Messiah" Obama. As a result, they come up with explanations like racism to account for the fact that the American people have not simply carried Obama directly to the White House on their shoulders while weeping for joy. It does not enter their elitist minds that Obama might not be fit for the Presidency or that people might have moral objections to things like Obama's radical support for abortion. They seem oblivious to the logic of an economy based on equality of opportunity instead of the unachievable and ultimately unfair equality of results that the left preaches. So when they see rationally thinking individuals standing up for moral values or personal responsibility, their reaction is disbelief.

The other liberal theme being catered to here is the general theory that most people are mean and hateful. Liberals found that people protested when they were called such things, so they came up with the idea that everyone is mean and hateful subconsciously. Oh! Well, that's different, right?.....Right.... Thinking people, such as myself, might find it a little arrogant for these leftists to tell us who we are and what we feel. I think I have a better idea of that, personally.

So the liberals want to say that people are running around being racists while being oblivious to the fact. In other words, you cannot have responsibility for yourself! You had better go to the Almighty Government for help. Is it any wonder that liberals treat Obama like The Messiah?

"But there were studies!" Some would say.

Modern society has made a deity out of science. This has become so extreme that practically anything which is backed up by a study is widely accepted as dogma. But studies are not always right. Think about all of the factors effecting the viability of any study: What is the sample size? What is the statistical margin of error? What were the ideological leanings of the people involved? Where was the sample taken from? What other factors may have created the observed result? Did the organizers of the study have a theory they were looking to prove? And is the result repeatable?

So things may not be as the Kristof and other liberals would have you believe. But don't just take my word either.

Fox News: Union Official: Teachers Who Engage in Consensual Sex With Teen Pupils Shouldn't Face Prosecution

A British teachers’ union representative has come under fire after claiming that teachers who engage in consensual sex with students over the age of 16 should not be prosecuted, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported Sunday.

I hope that this union representative is fired quickly. Our society is already far too perverse. Suggesting that teachers should be free to have sexual relations with their 16-year-old students may be a horny lecher-teacher's fantasy, but it is morally corrupt and totally unacceptable in a reasonable society.

Beyond the moral problem, it creates an abusive and unfair environment for children. If the teacher is in a sexual relationship with a student, how can the grading of that student be considered fair? But far worse is one of the truly dark aspects of this sick proposition - the possibility of teachers using the threat of a failing grade to coerce students into sex. May God protect us from such horrors.
